Biography
I was born on April 20, 1985, a son to Jeff & Lynn, brother to
Stephanie. I was grew up just outside of Coleman, and I attended
school there as well. I recently graduated from UW-Green Bay with a
bachelors degree in Business Administration. I now work full time
for my family's business, Holtger Brothers, Inc.. Some days I work
outside as a foreman, managing crews and jobsites, other days I'm in
the office doing a variety of things. I prefer to be outdoors! In
the little spare time that I have, I like to ride my dirt bike,
snowmobile, go out with my friends, and spend time with my fiancee
Jillian. She and I are getting married in May of 2009.
How I got started racing
I’ve always enjoyed racing as I was growing up. It wasn’t until my
dad, Jeff, started off road racing that I took more interest in the
sport. From day one, I was right by my dad’s side helping with the
truck in the shop and at the track. I knew someday that I would be
behind the wheel doing some form of racing and I wanted all the
knowledge & experience I could get.
A few years ago, I bought a dirt bike, along with my cousin Nick. At
first we rode around home on a track we had built. When we were more
comfortable with the bikes we started competing at an amateur level
at some of the local tracks. I’ve even entered in some arenacross
events that have been held in Milwaukee, Green Bay and Madison. I’ve
been fortunate to qualify and compete in most of the main events at
these races.
Once I had my drivers license I had planned to compete with my dad’s
off road truck in the Pro 4 class, but he happened to sell it at the
end of the 2001 season, so there went my chance. The summer before
he sold it, I did have the opportunity to practice at some of the
tracks to get feel of what it was like. The summer of 2004, my
cousin, Nick, and I decided we wanted to race in the IMCA Modified
circuit like my dad had also done in the past. When we first
started, we had one car between the 2 of us and we would take turns
driving on the weekends. I would compete in Antigo on Friday nights
and then Saturday mornings the car would get prepped so Nick could
run that night in Shawano. That got old fast and Nick eventually
purchased his own car.
In 2005, I sold the stock car and went back to off road racing. My
brother-in-law, Craig, and I now share driving duties in a 1600
Light Buggy where we compete with my sister Steph. Eventually I want
to move up to a truck class in the pro series, but for now we are
having fun with the buggy and, of course, always want to beat Steph!
In 2007, we finished top 10 in the final point standings and I had
my best finish of 2nd place at Wheatland. I’m excited for the 2008
WSORR season and look forward to racing with Craig again.
