Holtger Motorsports Update - Off-Road Racing

Holtger Motorsports Becomes a Serious Contender in Light Buggy - September 1, 2009

Coleman, WI - The family team of Holtger Motorsports has always made sure that their time at the race track was fun. In 2009 they have had fun finishing on the podium. The three racer team of Stephanie and Craig Paitl (husband and wife) and Bryan Holtger (Stephanie's brother), has seen steady improvement all year long. The team's unappointed leader, Stephanie enjoys the time behind the wheel of the #144 HBI IMCI Goodyear Buggy and much as she does hanging out at the track with family and friends. The guys on the team split their driving duties every weekend and have their own competition between themselves as well as with the other twenty competitors in their class.

Early in the season, you would see all three Holtger drivers discussing and making changes to their buggy's suspension, looking for that competitive edge. The hard work on and off the track has paid off as 2009 has been the team's best season, with eight of the ten rounds completed in the TORC SRT Light Buggy Championship, the team has five top-6 finishes including two runner up finishes and one win!
"We come out here to have fun, but we want to be competitive and finish up front," remarked Craig Paitl. "Steph and Bryan's dad raced when they were kids, I met Steph thanks to racing, and we always have friends and family at track. We kid each other on who finished better every weekend and we always go home with a smile."
The final weekend of the TORC SRT Light Buggy Championship is this weekend in Crandon, Wisconsin.

Don't be surprised if you see Holtger Motorsports back on the box during the 40th anniversary celebration of off-road racing event.

Bark River, MI - Round 7 & 8 - August 8-9
Round 7 had Craig Paitl taking the wheel of the #100 Light Buggy. The land rush start saw the HBI Goodyear Buggy  get a great start  looking for another podium finish. The blue and white Light Buggy did just that with a second place finish. Meanwhile wife Stephanie,  had a flat tire, forcing a green flag pit stop. The time in the pits put her a lap down, relegating  the #144 HBI Catco Buggy to a fifteenth place finish.

Round 8 saw the #100 Light Buggy with Bryan Holtger driving, continued its string of strong finishes in the largest and most competitive division in TORC.  Bryan battled wheel to wheel with several competitors, despite reoccurring carburator issues, to finish sixth.  Stephanie had a solid run as she passed several racers to take her best finish on the season, eleventh.

Holtger Motorsports has been working hard on it suspension setup this season and it is definitely showing results.

With only two rounds to go in the 2009 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL, Light Buggy Championships Craig and Bryan are seventh and  Stephanie is fifteenth overall.

Next race is September 4-6 in Crandon, Wisconsin.

TORC SRT Light Buggy Standings

Oshkosh, WI - Round 5 & 6 - July 25-26
Round 5 saw Bryan Holtger  find the top of the podium for the first time in his off-road racing career. Bryan' s flag to flag win was not without incident. The last three laps saw Jamie Kleikamp do everything possible, including a few taps to Bryan's rear bumper, but the Holtger Motorsports #100 Light Buggy took the impressive win. Meantime, sister, Stephanie Paitl in the #144 Single Buggy, suffered a front suspension failure early in the round that ended her evening early.

Round 6 had the husband and wife team out on the track. Craig Paitl in the #100 Light Buggy and wife Stephanie, in the familiar #144.  On the last lap Craig was battling for a Top 10 finish when  the buggy rolled, due in part to contact from another racer, demoting him to a fifteenth place finish. Meanwhile, Stephanie drove a smart and clean race, staying on the lead lap, finishing in the fourteenth spot.

Bark River - Round 3 & 4  - July 11-12
Round Three saw Craig  just miss a podium finish with a hard fought fifth place, as wife Stephanie, had her best finish of the year, crossing the line in twelfth.

Round Four was tough on Bryan as a brake drum shattered early in the race, relegated the #100 Light Buggy to a seventeenth place finish. Stephanie had a tough day at  the "office" as well. There was quite a bit of with contact going on  throughout the Light Buggy field. Some of the excessive contact slowed  the #144 HBI Buggy, as Stephanie finished in sixteenth place.

After four rounds of racing, the #100 driven by Craig and Bryan sits in eleventh, and Stephanie in the #144 is fifteenth overall in the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL SRT 1600 Light Buggy Championship Standings. Next Race: July 24 -25, under the lights at the Oshkosh Speedzone in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Nick Holtger will be campaigning his IMCA Modified at the dirt tracks of Shawano, Langlade County, and Sycamore Speedways. This will be the second season behind the wheel of his '08 Larry Shaw chassis dirt tracker. Look for Nick to add to his winning ways in 2009.
